Kristin’s Scoliosis Story.

When I was 11, I was told I have scoliosis. I went to the hospital to get x-rays and my back doctor told me my curve was in the low 40 degree range. He didn’t believe that a brace would ever help, so he said we would just keep an eye on it. He also mentioned surgery as an option if it got closer to 45 degrees.

I went back a few months later and my curve had jumped all the way up to 68 degrees. Surgery was no longer an option. I had to get it. And it was scheduled right away. July 6, 2007.

I got the surgery, stayed in the hospital for a week, and got a back brace. I have 2 titanium rods in my back and over 30 screws. My curve has been decreased to 18 degrees.

I’m always willing to talk to anyone! Please come talk to me if you’re worried about surgery or just have general questions.

The part of my blog dedicated to my scoliosis is HERE

Stay strong girls. We will be tougher than titanium. That’s my motto that I live by.
